Dr. Cheryl Chapman
Diplomate ABO, Orthokeratologist
Dr. Cheryl Chapman was born in Schuyler, NE where she grew up and went on to receive her undergraduate degree in 1999 from Creighton University in Omaha. Upon graduating, Dr. Chapman moved to Houston to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry where she graduated with honors as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honors Society.
Dr. Chapman’s training included an externship at Eye Specialists in Circleville, Ohio, focusing on managing ocular disease such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataract care. She also has extensive experience working with elderly patients and nursing home eye care.
Dr. Chapman is a Diplomate with the American Board of Optometry, achieving extensive Board Certification and completing more than 50 hours of continuing education (above and beyond normal state requirements). Dr. Chapman is proud to bring this extra level of ongoing education to her patients.
In addition to her membership with the Nebraska Optometric Association (NOA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA), Dr. Chapman is also a member of the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (AAOMC). the Scleral Lens Education Society and the International Academy of Orthokeratology (IAO).
Dr. Chapman has a passion for working with children. She is a provider for Infantsee and See To Learn. These programs provide free eye exams for children aged 6-12 months and 3 years old. Dr. Chapman is also dedicated to Myopia Control - effectively reducing the progression of nearsightedness in children.
Dr. Chapman is certified in the Emerald Orthokeratology Procedure as well as the Bausch and Lomb Vision Shaping Treatment VST. She has completed the Advanced Educational Course in Daytona Retinal Imaging held in Scotland, UK.
In 2010, Dr. Chapman was awarded the Dr. Charles Seeger Memorial Award from the Nebraska Optometric Association for Young Optometrist of the Year.
Dr. Chapman has participated in the Nebraska Optometric Association Leadership Program and the Gallup Entrepreneur Acceleration System. She is also a proud member of the Optimist Club.
Dr. Chapman and her husband, Tom, have six children and enjoy running around like chickens with their heads cut off. :) Dr. Chapman is a Girl Scout leader and coaches basketball, volleyball and track. She is an avid runner and yogi, enjoys reading, cooking and home DIY projects. She also follows the advice she gives her patients and eats a colorful salad every day to protect her retinas...
