Keratoconus clinic
Keratoconus is a progressive condition where the cornea, or front surface of the eye, becomes thinner and protrudes in a cone-like shape. This irregular change in shape causes gradually decreasing vision that may not be adequately corrected with traditional glasses or contact lenses. In severe cases, keratoconus may require surgical intervention to slow progression or restore loss of vision.
With the advanced technology available at Gretna Vision Source, Dr.’s Chapman and Petska can screen for and diagnose keratoconus. Our doctors are trained to manage and treat this corneal condition with various therapies that improve visual quality and quality of life. Most patients with keratoconus are successfully managed with annual comprehensive eye health examinations and the use of specialty contact lenses such as rigid gas permeable, hybrid, or scleral lenses.
